Donegal Tweeds

Donegal Tweeds
DONEGAL TWEEDS
These are pure wool and Irish "home-spun" fabrics. Usually plain weave, coarse yams, firmly woven on hand looms, and much used for sports suits. The warp is grey or self-coloured and a weft, made from mixed wool dyed yarns, is used to give the characteristic speckled pattern. Donegal tweeds are made in many qualities from 12 to 14 ends and picks per inch, from 4 to 8 skeins yarns.
